Kooks was founded in April 2022 as a way for post-collegiate athletes and active coaches to continue playing the game that we love. We aim to grow this indigenous tradition called the "medicine game" for ourselves and future generations to enjoy.

Most importantly, Kooks brings the local lacrosse community closer together. As a result, we’ve increased the number of players, coaches, mentors, and referees in Santa Cruz and Monterey counties.

In less than three years, the team has grown to 150 men’s club members and over 50 youth members. Kooks predominantly reside in or were raised along the Central Coast in the Monterey Bay area.

In May 2025, Kooks Lacrosse Club became a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit organization. Additionally, the club expanded to include a U18 club team that offers practices, clinics, games, and tournament opportunities to high school athletes.
